A destructive tornado struck York and Seward counties Tuesday night. Seward reports indicate eight to eleven fatalities with many homes wrecked. The storm tracked northeast from Grafton, damaging Lashton McCool Utica and Tamora, aided by downed telegraph lines. Scotts Bluff County also saw hail and wind damage with property loss and injuries, the worst near Scottsbluff where Henry Schaffer’s house and barn were destroyed.

Mexican in Nebraska Penitentiary Seeks Pardon
A Mexican man, Frank Delgado, imprisoned in the Nebraska state penitentiary for about a year after a misunderstanding over a marriage license, seeks a pardon. Alliance State Junior Normal Opens June Date Set

By order of sale from the Box Butte County District Court a sale is set for June 17 1913 to satisfy liens from Alliance Building & Loan Association and others totaling several thousand dollars. Train No 42 Near Miss After Sand Slide East of Birdsell
A derailment nearly occurred on Train No 42 leaving Alliance when the engine struck a large sand deposit three miles east of Birdsell. The pilot was broken and the draw bar dropped, derailing the engine and baggage car. Engineer C H Rockey and Conductor McDonald reported the scene and the train was brought back to Alliance after salvage work. One passenger sustained a bruised head and back injuries while others were unharmed. Delays and crew changes followed as authorities inspected the site and cleared the track.
