John R. Beach, long time bookkeeper at The Herald, received a telegram Saturday about a new lucrative post in Sheridan Wyoming. He left for the city the following Saturday. The Herald regrets losing him but praises the move for a higher salary and his reliable business education.
The Methodist Sunday school plans a lawn social Friday evening at Mrs. Ella Hawkins residence 806 Laramie Ave. Refreshments will be served.
An old advertisement touts Dr Kings New Life Pills promising relief from constipation and indigestion and restored appetite. It claims to regulate stomach liver and bowels and to impart new energy. Available for 26 cents at F J Brennan's.
A carriage team driven by Misses Ethel Rowley Mary Ray Etta Douglas and Gladys Ricketts with Geo. Douglas stalled when a wheel collapsed. The girls were thrown free and Miss Ricketts and Miss Douglas suffered painful but not serious injuries. Had the team been frightened a more severe accident could have occurred.
H. P. Larson of Reno arrived in Alliance with his eight year old son who was badly scalded about three weeks ago after falling into a cattle dip vat.
Hon. Willis E. Reed of Madison Nebraska will deliver the July 6 forenoon address. Reed, a prominent U S Senate candidate, is described as an interesting speaker and his inclusion adds interest to the Stockmen’s convention program. All who can should hear him.
Co. BE. Bently of Oxsawkle, Kangana, stopped in Alliance yesterday on his way home from the western coast. He showed interest in northwestern Nebraska and interviewed locals about country products and real estate prices.
Franklin McNeill, pastor, invites the community to a Fourth of July church service. Morning sermon titled The Meaning and Mission of America and evening sermon The Great Coronation. Attendees urged to attend as citizens of a republic and to honor Christ through church attendance.
The Epworth League of the M B church holds interesting meetings every Sunday evening. Next Sunday an orchestra will provide music and a special song service. A cordial invitation is extended to all. W. R. Harper, President.
The Herald notes Dalton will host a large 4th of July celebration with extensive posters printed by the job department. The town, known for its spirited residents, hopes to outdo other towns of similar size in the state this year.

Dr James P Maxfield announces a modern dental office equipped with electrical devices located over Brennan's drug store. Card appears on the first page of The Herald.
An invitation states the orchestra will furnish music and there will be vocal selections. Everyone is invited to attend.
At the Manse of the First Presbyterian church in Alliance Nebraska at high noon June 28 1911 Mr Richard Irwin Glasgow and Miss Eleanor Spencer both of Lingle Wyoming were united in matrimony by Rev James B Brown. The ceremony was attended by A N Spencer father of the bride two Spencer sisters Mary and Hazel and aunt Isabella Hayes and Mrs J B Brown. The newlyweds left for their Wyoming home and The Herald offers congratulations and best wishes for a long happy married life.
On Monday this week Miss Ethel M. Nolan joined The Herald office as bookkeeper and stenographer. Her proven ability and wide city acquaintance are expected to aid in gathering local news. See Phil Pizer's ad this week for clothing savings.
The Herald notes the small patient in Sheridan county is recovering nicely, and readers in the southern part of the county will be glad to hear the update.
The Alliance Tailoring Company adopts a new Holf-Man sanitary steam pressing machine for cleaning and disinfecting garments. The device eliminates germs with dry steam, removes odors and grime, lifts nap, revives colors, and adds freshness. Manager Enyeart reports high production with the machine, with a cut shown.
