Fred Reynolds admitted two counts of illegal liquor possession after a raid on Radiant Beauty Parlor. Judge Tash fined him a total of 200 dollars. wife Louise Reynolds was cleared. Reynolds will serve time in county jail if bond cannot be posted.

Twin Girls Born in Alliance Suburb Deaths Reported

Twin girls weighing four and a half pounds each were born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis at Eighth and Mississippi on Sunday February 26. One infant died Monday night. Burial followed at Fairview cemetery twelve miles northeast of Alliance. Services were led by Rev. S. J. Epler.

Hemingford Road Route Objections Dropped by Chamber

Chamber of Commerce of Alliance withdraws objections to a federal aid road route to Hemingford after talks with state and local officials. C. L. Hashman informs that the route is not final and may change after spring surveys by engineers. E. H. Morey confirms the state will conduct complete surveys to determine the better location.

Herald advertising proves value with farm rent ad

In Cherry county a farm for rent placed as an unsigned display ad drew fifteen responses in three days after the first insertion and thirty more after a second run. The advertiser paid only a couple of dollars per issue and expects further inquiries as the campaign continues.

Harper Drives Push to Secure Scout Camp for Alliance

W. R. Harper new scoutmaster leads a campaign to establish a permanent camp for Alliance Boy Scouts. Two sites are eyed Belmont and Broncho Lake with plans to add a swimming hole at Belmont and a summer cabin at Broncho Lake. Harper and partners will visit Belmont to discuss site options with F. L. Tollman as eight vacancies remain in the second troop.

Business Women Plan Formation of Alliance Club

A luncheon at the Alliance chamber of commerce drew twenty five or more votes as women discuss forming a business women’s club. A five member committee will draft the constitution and bylaws while monthly luncheons and three dollar annual dues are set.

McNew Fined Fifty for Drunken Visit at Alliance Hotel

James H. McNew, described as the merriest jag in county court, procured liquor that left him fearful yet happy during a raid at the Radiant beauty parlor in the Alliance hotel. He defended himself, pleaded not guilty, appealed, and must raise funds by June 6 to pay the $50 fine plus costs, while remaining polite to the prosecutor.

A 2 p m meeting in Alliance formed a preliminary county fair organization with thirty plus farmers, ranchers and stockmen backing the plan. Committees were appointed to study laws, canvass agriculturists, and arrange meetings, with further organization set for March 9 and March 5 in Hemingford.
