Conductor Betebenner Seriously Injured Near Mason City
Conductor G. W. Betebenner was thrown from train No. 40 near Mason City as rear track left the rail. He sustained fractures to his right arm nose and jaw and was taken to Grand Island Hospital in critical condition. Betebenner, a veteran conductor on the Ravenna to Seneca run, formerly lived in Alliance.

Accused of Blasphemy Arrested and Church Notice
Arthur Blackwell was arrested at the colored camp near the depot on Saturday after a complaint by Clarence Minor and Ferguson claiming blasphemy against the president and government. Night officer George Stafford of the Alliance police nabbed a hotel boarder trying to flee the city. The man, who owed the Burling ton Hotel, boarded train forty-two as it started and was stopped by Marshal Stafford on the smoking coach.
