City council votes to place a 10000 water extension bond issue on the April regular election ballot. Plans call for extending mains along Tenth Street Fourth Street Duncan’s addition Yellowstone and Missouri avenues and Mississippi Avenue.
G N Hoag a Burlington freight inspector died of heart failure Wednesday evening after boarding a light engine at Halsey. He slipped from the moving engine, struck his head on a rail, and died before the fall. Survived by his son I C Hoag and four daughters, with siblings in Illinois, California, and Nebraska. Funeral at Masonicas at 2 pm conducted by Rev S J Epler. Burial in Greenwood cemetery. Born 1847 in Center Sandwich New Hampshire.
In Alliance more than sixty ex service members meet for informal talks on city government backing two candidates D C Bradbury and Will L O Keefe. They aim to offer voters candidates with no strings attached and to promote the city manager plan as a path to reforms and efficiency.
Mrs. Louis Walters of Marsland travels to Alliance for medical care as W. R. Mets reports returning from a trip to Lincoln.
Alliance chamber of commerce directors meet to condemn two state highway bills that would abolish or merge the department of public works and to urge keeping auto license revenue in the counties. They back retaining the current secretary Geo J Johnson and oppose changes that could affect federal aid and road funding, sending resolutions to legislators and press.
The Alliance city council, by unanimous vote, goes on record against a proposed law placing all public utilities under the state railway commission. Petitions in Hemingford and Berea seek an agent focusing on potato growers and certified seed potatoes.
Frank Gilleran was brought before Police Judge Roberts on intoxication charges after being picked up on the street. He received a fine of 25 dollars plus costs totaling 30 dollars. relatives later paid and released him. The judge noted the case exposed a desire to shield bootleggers while upholding the law.
J. J. Cox the livestock solicitor for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad arrives in the city on official business, meeting with local contacts and settling routine affairs.

Mose Wright this week takes charge of the Farmers Union store in Alliance, succeeding L. C. Powell who retires. Powell has served as manager for Mrs. Robert Piester. The appointment follows George Powell's retirement, with Wright replacing him to run the store.
