Foster heirs face partition suit over Whittemore property
Anna Foster Irwin Foster and Mildred Foster are named defendants in a Kenosha County Iowa District Court petition alleging ownership of three fourths of Lots 5 and 6 in Block 11 Whittemore with defendants to share one twelfth each. Irwin and Mildred are minors. The plaintiff seeks judgment and partition by sale if not equitably divisible, with court term set to begin November 26 1917 in Algona Iowa. A Big Hog Sale At Duroc Jersey Auction
A well attended Duroc Jersey hog sale at the fair grounds drew buyers from Nebraska Minnesota South Dakota and Illinois. Forty five head including 88 boars and 7 gilts were sold with a top bid of 360 for boar No 66 to Modrow and Kern of Stanton Nebraska. The sale total reached 448 50 and the average per head was about 99 63. Col N G Kraschel and Col L A Matern of Wesley acted as auctioneers and C B Murtagh was clerk. GL A Miner provided dinner on the grounds.

Gresco township foot racing stars spark regional buzz
A quarter century ago Gresco township gained sports renown in baseball and now in foot racing. Philip, employed by Mrs. Cavil, challenged Ed Platt to a $25 race with six feet start. They posted $10 each with 8 B Potter, met near A D Clark's last Saturday, but Philip failed to place the money. Potter gave Platt the funds, sparking talk of crookedness and possible litigation.
