Camp Dodge to gain 70,000 capacity with 400 more buildings
War era plans quietly expand Camp Dodge beyond the projected size. 400 new buildings, largely barracks, will convert regimental units into larger dormitories and increase capacity toward 70,000 soldiers. Delays of at least one month are expected as these additions proceed. High prices for cotton and wool worsen state funding for institutions serving 16,000 wards.
