Drunken Garfield man jailed after fracas at farm
In Garfield township, D B Wade faces drunkenness and riotous conduct charges after an episode at a farm shared with his son in law Forsyth. Wade accused his wife and daughter of hiding whiskey, assaulted them, chased Forsyth with a monkey wrench, then later attacked Forsyth again with an ax before arrest by Deputy Ladendorf and transfer to Algona.

W F Hofius died after a long illness at his Iowa home. Born 1830 in Sharon Pennsylvania, he moved to Illinois then to Kossuth county in 1858. Survived by three children James, George and Charles and two sisters, he was a Baptist church founder and long a respected Algona figure. Funeral conducted by Rev. Porterfield with a grove service and funeral procession to the cemetery.
