Des Moines August 9 Senator Cummins arrives by train at Hook Island station to a cheering crowd and a sea of 2000 flags. In Knoxville Iowa on August 9 192? Helen Mattox aged 16 died by suicide in her Harvey home after a bitter dispute between her father and mother. The girl dressed in a white gown knelt before a mirror and shot herself with a rifle. Her stepfather W A Montgomery is accused of abusing his wife prompting her to leave and walk ten miles to Knoxville where she learned of her daughter's death and became distraught. She was jailed as the town awaits further actions and the mother may be sent to a sanitarium.
