Supreme Court Upholds Five Petersburg Fishermen’s Convictions
The Alaska Supreme Court affirmed the 1960 convictions of Norman Tate skipper and four crewmen Phil Biele John Murphy Neil Peterson and Frank Larber for fishing in closed waters. Tate received a $5000 fine 60 days jail and license loss. others $2500 fines 15 days jail and license loss. Appeals exhausted include possible U S Supreme Court review. The attorney said the state will seek stiff fines to deter fisheries violations.

Barge Line Suspends Regular Service

Two Boys Plead Guilty in Disorderly Conduct Case
Two youths aged 7 and 13 were caught breaking into the Alaskan Glacier Sea foods plant two weeks ago. They stole marking pencils and date stamps and were placed under supervision after parental meetings and a deputy magistrate decision. William H. Gribble dies in Petersburg at age 95
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church for William H. Gribble who died Tuesday June 5. Born September 15, 1880 in Silverton Colorado, he lived in Alaska since the turn of the century and held posts in Petersburg Moose Lodge, city council, and local newspapers. Survivors include wife Gertrude daughter Alma Sisson and sons Richard William Jr. and others. Moose Lodge members served as pallbearers.

Sport Fishing Sets Two King Salmon Bag Limit on Stikine
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced a temporary bag limit of two king salmon over 26 inches in the Stikine District including the new extended area. The rule lasts until noon June 18.
