Patsy Magill daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Magill sustained third degree burns to her leg in a pressure cooker incident aboard the family boat Wesley while cooking corned beef. She released the valve, a meat piece lodged the valve, forcing hot water onto her leg and she opened the cooker to vent remaining steam. She was taken to a town for treatment.

Stikine district to reopen for salmon with new marked line
Alaska Fishery officials announced late yesterday that stream markers in the Stikine district will be moved to extend the sanctuary and reopen commercial salmon fishing Monday noon for the week ending Thursday noon. The adjusted boundary includes the flats and back channel from Point Highfield to Jap Creek, applying to all commercial salmon fishing with no fishing inside the line. A two week closure had been in effect. kings from back channel flats are poor quality and fetch lower prices, prompting market adjustments and enforcement within the Stikine gill net district. Next week fishing centers on sockeyes with a 6 inch mesh limit, plus other Alaska fisheries opening in Prince of Wales and Portland Canal areas.

Foreign fishermen noted in Bering Sea operations
Japanese and Russian fishing activity in the Bering Sea and along the Aleutian chain appears to be slightly more extensive this season than prior years, according to Cmdr. H. T.
