A Petersburg fisherman named Sig Danielson, about 50, was reported missing in Juneau last week by friends. The marshal's office investigates and rules out foul play as a .22 pistol and money were found on his boat galley. Crews drag the harbor near his mooring but no trace of him has been found. Danielson is single and lives near Petersburg on Sandy Beach Road. He has brothers in Bellingham Washington and Kodiak.

Fire Chief Ken Welde and Chief Driver Hugh Jones inspected the surplus truck from Anchorage and reported that hoses nozzles and other gear are needed before use. The department calls for a new fire house or space in a municipal building to store and maintain equipment, as the truck sits in the public works shop and access is inconsistent for volunteers.

Second Fire Destroys Office at Talbot Building in Ketchikan
A second major blaze in two weeks damaged the Talbot Building Supply office and warehouse in Ketchikan. The warehouse saved. the office gutted and a nearby apartment partially destroyed. Fire boats and Coast Guard units fought the two hour fire as smoke hampered crews. an 18‑foot cruiser and Ellis Air Lines engines were moved from the site.

Augusta Enge born Marie Augusta Rosvald of Kristiansund Norway died after a brief illness June 1 in Petersburg Alaska. She helped Red Cross and Ladies Aid during World War II and served as a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral held at Lutheran Church with Order of the Eastern Star members in attendance. Her husband Martin and sons John and Ernest survive with grandchildren and siblings in Norway.
