First Franciscan Ordination in Otero County Sealed in Tularosa
Fray Philip Baldonado, son of Mr and Mrs Juan Baldonado, was ordained a Franciscan priest at St. Francis Church in Tularosa on June 19. The ceremony marked the first ordination in Otero County and drew hundreds, with more than 100 Baldonado relatives attending amid a weekend of festivities. He will return to Santa Barbara Mission to study another year before assignment.

Death of Mrs Edna Mae Williams at El Paso
Mrs Edna Mae Williams died at her home in El Paso on June 19. Funeral services were held at Peak Hagedon Chapel the next day and burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. She was 62 and had lived in Alamogordo during two separate periods, including the late 1900s and prior to 1934. She had been ill for several years and leaves many friends and relatives.
