Northwest Iowa librarians plan October sub-station meetings

Librarians from 19 counties in northwest Iowa will attend regional sub-station meetings during the first week of October. Organized by the northwest regional library system, six sub-stations in Spencer Cherokee Sheldon Sac City Storm Lake Moville will bring regional materials closer to local libraries. Librarians borrow items from sub-stations for local patron use, including art prints large print books audio visual materials paperbacks and book collections. The program also offers inter library loan reference and professional consultations.

Pleasant Hill reunion brings 87 former classmates together

Classmates from the Pleasant Hill school district gathered at the Akron Legion hall on Sunday, September 19, with 87 in attendance. The event opened at 12 30 p.m. with a potluck lunch, then featured visiting, reminiscing, and photo sharing, with brief talks by former students. Attendees included former students families friends and teachers from Iowa South Dakota Minnesota and Nebraska.

Glen Kanago Celebrates 80th Birthday in Le Mars

Glenn Kanago marks his 80th birthday with a Sunday gathering at the Le Mars home. Born September 20, 1896 in Plymouth County, he served in naval aviation in World War I and spent years in Adaville before retiring to Le Mars.
