The Loyal Neighbors club schedules its weekly gathering for Tuesday October 5 at the home of Brenda Groon. The event invites members to join in a community-focused meeting and social time.
Librarians from 19 counties in northwest Iowa will attend regional sub-station meetings during the first week of October. Organized by the northwest regional library system, six sub-stations in Spencer Cherokee Sheldon Sac City Storm Lake Moville will bring regional materials closer to local libraries. Librarians borrow items from sub-stations for local patron use, including art prints large print books audio visual materials paperbacks and book collections. The program also offers inter library loan reference and professional consultations.
Classmates from the Pleasant Hill school district gathered at the Akron Legion hall on Sunday, September 19, with 87 in attendance. The event opened at 12 30 p.m. with a potluck lunch, then featured visiting, reminiscing, and photo sharing, with brief talks by former students. Attendees included former students families friends and teachers from Iowa South Dakota Minnesota and Nebraska.
The northwest regional library system board of trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting on Oct 19 at 3 p.m. at Whiting public library in Whiting. The public is invited.

Ellis Tucker won a first prize Amana Radar Range in a League of Iowa Municipalities drawing.

Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars will sponsor a free fall session of pre natal classes for expectant parents. Co ordinated by Luella Taylor R N and assisted by Floyd Valley staff nurses these four Wednesday sessions cover preparation for parenthood baby growth labor and delivery hospital tour and family arrival with no pre registration required.
Over 300 nurses expected at the 73rd Iowa Nurses Association convention October 10 to 13 at the Hilton Inn on the Plaza Sioux City District one hosts. Pre-registration closes October 4 with daily registration at the site starting October 10.
Debbie Kroksh a 1976 Westfield Community high school graduate has been accepted as a student at Stewart's school of hairstyling in Sioux City. She will study theory and practice in cosmetology including haircutting facial treatment hair care basic chemistry and business management over about one year. She may then take the state board exam and become a licensed cosmetologist.
Eugene Stabe of Akron and his wife Bridget McKee, Akron High School graduates of 1976, left Tuesday for Memphis Tennessee. Eugene will attend aviation machinist hydraulic school after completing navy boat training at Great Lakes Illinois.
Glenn Kanago marks his 80th birthday with a Sunday gathering at the Le Mars home. Born September 20, 1896 in Plymouth County, he served in naval aviation in World War I and spent years in Adaville before retiring to Le Mars. Attendees included Eldon Kanago and Kerwin of Spencer, Bryce Kanago at Wayne Nebraska, Linnie Frey of Storm Lake, Walter Young and Mrs Young of Akron, with a sister also present. another sister, Mrs Truman Campbell of Akron, could not attend due to illness.

Fanny McKee attended Hawarden Senior Citizen picnic dinner in Sioux Center last Tuesday. Harry DeVries of Hawarden visited Thursday afternoon. Shirley Lowell and her son Mike spent the weekend with her parents Charles and Mrs. Hendricks. Steve Lowell of Sioux City visited Sunday afternoon. Frank Hemmerrick and family and others were visitors at Cass Dennison’s Elk Point home Friday evening. Frank Hemmerrick and family, Darin and Caroline Ratzch, and Aaron visited Julie Blauth at Alcester last Thursday afternoon. E Repp and A DeRaad with Tim Repp hosted dinner Sunday with Mike Coons and family visiting Evelyn Renken.
