Union Creek news lists mission services planned for Monday September 9 at 8 oclock with visiting Sioux Falls district pastors, plus Tuesday afternoon and evening services. At a September 3 1935 meeting the Akron Iowa Town Council passed a resolution to construct a permanent sidewalk on or before October 1 1935 along the north side of Lots 1 and 2 in Block 18 at First and Main streets.
A cement road section 5544 feet west to meet highway No 12 will be built four inches thick and four feet wide. Sealed bids are due by September 17 19365. Council may reject all bids. J L Clayton, clerk.
Iowa State College farm crops men warn that alfalfa should not be cut later than September 1 to 10 to secure eight to ten inches of growth before freezing weather, a goal deemed essential to winter vitality.
Advice notes that alfalfa provides winter protection only with light pasture, warns old seedings winterkill more easily than new, and urges growers to maintain adequate growth. Also suggests reading Akron Merchants ads in the Register-Tribune to save by spending locally.
