Halloween Safety Guide for Parents and Drivers

Halloween comes with witches and goblins out Friday night. Parents should take precautions to ensure a safe night. Do not place lit pumpkins on doorsteps where costumes may brush them. Tell children to avoid running across lawns or backyards to prevent trips over lawn ornaments or clotheslines. If driving, watch for trick or treaters who may be too busy to notice cars.

Mary Dirks Completes Hairstyling Training

Mary Dirks of Akron, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Dirks, completed 2100 hours of training at Stewart School of Hairstyling in Sioux City in October 1975. She enrolled September 10, 1975 and studied all phases of hair styling, cosmetology, permanent waving, tinting, makeup, manicuring, and shop management. After passing the state board exam she will be a licensed hairstylist.
