A study group committee led by Mrs. Roger Banks met Saturday night at the Ryan residence to discuss organizational action and a future membership drive. The Future Needs and Planning committee met with the School Board in October to discuss selecting an architect and planning the proposed school addition. After selecting an architect, the study group will reconvene with the School Board the architect and Mr Fischer for detailed planning.
Special meeting notes approval of a contract to purchase about 187 acres near Akron for public recreation and development including a golf course and airport. The council authorized Mayor John H. Earnest to execute the contract and related documents. All five council members voted in favor.
By October 19 1968 the Garland Common School District No 11 votes on dissolving and uniting with Hoyt Independent and Alcester Independent districts. Land transfers attach parcels to Hoyt and Alcester districts while a meeting at the Garland schoolhouse sets voting for November 7 1968. Howard L Johnson Clerk.
