Study Group Plans Membership Drive After October Meeting

A study group committee led by Mrs. Roger Banks met Saturday night at the Ryan residence to discuss organizational action and a future membership drive. The Future Needs and Planning committee met with the School Board in October to discuss selecting an architect and planning the proposed school addition. After selecting an architect, the study group will reconvene with the School Board the architect and Mr Fischer for detailed planning.

Akron Iowa Town Council approves real estate contract for 187 acres

Special meeting notes approval of a contract to purchase about 187 acres near Akron for public recreation and development including a golf course and airport. The council authorized Mayor John H. Earnest to execute the contract and related documents. All five council members voted in favor.

Special Election Called to Merge Garland District with Nearby IMS

By October 19 1968 the Garland Common School District No 11 votes on dissolving and uniting with Hoyt Independent and Alcester Independent districts. Land transfers attach parcels to Hoyt and Alcester districts while a meeting at the Garland schoolhouse sets voting for November 7 1968. Howard L Johnson Clerk. Farm City Week Proclaimed November 22 28

National Farm City Week will be observed starting Friday November 22 announced by Cecil J Kennedy chairing the ASCS County Committee. He said the ASCS and Kiwanis endorse recognizing farmers and urged all groups to express appreciation of rural urban ties and farmers contributions to national well being.
