Westfield Notes On Visits Hospitalizations And Local Events

Margaret Schulter spent a week with sister-in-law Ruby Schulter in Churdan. Wade Dreeszen is a patient at St Joseph Hospital. Kenneth Berns of Cherokee joined relatives for a Wednesday supper. Lavina Newman has returned home from hospital wearing a brace. Junior Class play slated for November. Marie Caskey and Helen Faust visited Akron. Chuckie Dewey returned home from hospital and aims to return to school soon. Herb and Virginia Ross hosted an open house. they recently moved from California. The Koffee Kup Club plans a rummage sale on October 21 in the Harris building. Marion Harris and Pat Hombs seek donations for the sale. Rosco Newman admitted to Veterans Hospital Sioux Falls with escorts from Earl Leonard Le Mars and George Berns. Berns attended WWI Barrack auxiliary meeting in Cherokee. Ecology students invade Newton Hills for weekend study

Newton Hills near Canton SD became a hub for ecology students over a October weekend in 2021 as Mount Marty College Yankton ran a summer institute for teachers. Participants from Mount Marty College and several high schools joined local teachers and teens in field camps to study ecosystems and ecology practices, returning with enriched classroom knowledge.

Educational Meeting for Legislative Candidates in Le Mars

The Iowa Association for Retarded Children will host an Educational Meeting for Legislative Candidates at The Elk's Club in Le Mars on October 27 at 6 30 p m. Guests include candidates for the Iowa Senate and House of Representatives along with Mrs. Helen Henderson Sandra Scott and Boyd Shannon. The event aims to highlight unmet needs of 84000 mentally retarded Iowa residents and the necessity of new legislation.

Adventurers Travel Club to Tour Smoky Mountains

One thousand four hundred Adventurers Travel Club members from Sioux City plan a ten day bus tour beginning October 21. The itinerary includes Lincoln sites in Illinois and Kentucky, Cumberland Gap, Chimney Rock Mountain, Biltmore House, Blue Ridge Parkway, Lookout Mountain, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville with a farewell dinner in St Louis. Koffee Kup Klub Plans October 21 Rummage Sale

October 4 meeting at Congregational Church hosted by Joyce Peck and Joellen Toben drew fourteen members. A rummage sale to benefit club funds was scheduled for October 21 from 9:00 to 5:00 next to Charlie Harris' garage with coffee donuts and rolls, donations invited at 568-2539.
