Akron Area Nursing Home October Activities and Visits

The Akron community’s nursing home hosted an October bulletin with a sing along led by Pastor Durwood Clauson and lunch from Trinity Lutheran. Residents received visits from many family and friends including Leona Dewey, Clifford and Ernest Johnson, Lizzie Gibbons, Lizzie Tindall, and others from Westfield, Sioux City, Remsen, and Akron. The Akron high school marching band performed a homecoming celebration with a football win over Whiting 46 to 14.

Akron TOPS 893 Members Prepare For Parade Entry

TOPS 893 held a weekly meeting opening with the pledge. Officers were elected and weights recorded. The weekly best loser shed 5 2 pounds for adults. Next week awards bracelets charms and pearls were planned. Members praised the homecoming float work and the Friday game win of first place in the commercial category.

Remsen schedules its second annual Oktoberfest for October 25 with music in the downtown at noon and a roving musician. New signs at Floyd Valley hospital Le Mars mark growing activity at the hospital annex alcoholism counseling information and referral center. The program offers out patient counseling for individuals families and employers concerned with alcoholism and alcohol abuse. Administrator director Lyle Davies aims to increase collaboration with Social Service agencies A A members law enforcement physicians and Plymouth county residents.
