Changes in 1960 Conservation Reserve program announced
Plymouth county ASC announces two changes to the 1960 Conservation Reserve program. First, basic annual rates will follow the 1959 method, and second, farmers have until October 9 to begin applying for 1960, extended from September 30. The changes follow a new law signed Sept 21 that shifts rate setting from historical yields to land productivity and value, with a cap of 20 percent of land value and a 1959 rate limit. Existing rate notices will trigger new contact rights, and tenant transitions may allow owner-operated contracts.
