Spirit Lake Hosts Federated Club Day and Club Plans

An invitation from the Rural Home Culture Club of Akron for Federation Club Day on November 3 was received at Spirit Lake. Plans for an amateur show in late October were discussed and Iris Mulfinger described the program procedures traveling through South Amelia. Iowa announces the first statewide home fire exit drill during Fire Prevention Week October 8 to 14. On October 11 at 6 30 p m families in all 99 counties will evacuate using local plans. The campaign aims to reduce fire deaths by promoting preplanned family exits and involves schools and safety groups.

County Education Board Transacts Business in September Canvass

The Plymouth County Board of Education met in the County Superintendent's Office on Monday forenoon September 25 to canvass results of the September 11 school board election. Norman W. Heeren was elected Member at Large and Robert B. Phelpy was chosen Director for Area No. 3. Heeren serves October 1 1975 to October 1978 and Phelpy serves until October 1971. The board approved expenditures and set actions on routine matters including continuing plans for a county special education class in LeMars and a trainable pupil class in Remsen Elementary with Ella Claassen as teacher. Ronald J. Hofmeyer is Speech Clinician nine months, Kathryn A. Probst is part time County School Psychologist, and Christine McCormick and Mardrog Kress are part time administrative staff.
