Young Dutch Youth Exchanges Highlights in Iowa Visit
Cornelis Van Westen of Zievikzee Netherlands stayed three weeks with Mrs. George Willer’s family east of town as part of the International Farm Youth Exchange. IFYE links 4-H alumni with rural youth abroad, coordinated with Cooperative Extension and USDA. In 1967 about 200 youths from 35 nations participate. three U.S. delegates visit the Netherlands and three Dutch exchangers come to the United States. A Madrid state 4-H Camp reunion October 8 includes all past and present exchangers. twelve are living in town for three months with two weeks of leave before December departures. Van Westen’s earlier days were in Wyoming.
