Special Correspondent reports Roy Cassen is building a new corn crib with neighbor help. Mrs. Richard Milner is sick. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gorman at St Joseph's hospital Sioux City. Various visitors, church groups, and social calls fill a busy week as locals note weather changes and farm work, with many residents attending gatherings and trips to Sioux City and Chicago.
Special correspondence reports Mrs. Anna Fredricks marking her seventy first birthday with a large crowd of neighbors and friends. Various local families hosted dinner guests at the Herman Frerichs home near West LeMars, while others called on or visited in several homes on Sunday.
Albert Bockelman was a Rock Valley visitor Sunday. G H Schafer and daughter Frances were Sioux City visitors Tuesday. Anna Hentrich visited Montrose last week. Willard Farnsworth P C C C met at the McFarlin home Wednesday. luncheon followed. John Kuck and wife of Centerville attended Barbara Harris funeral. Potatoes are poor. Barbara Harris died September 29 1933 at 42 after long illness.
A long list of visits and arrivals in Westfield and nearby towns. A business visitor to Omaha, many friends visiting Sioux City, and Miss Teresa Doyle with family visits. Guild meetings at Community Hall hosted by Mrs. Frank Welch, next by Mrs. Ray Welch. Ed McCue family moved from Kadoka to the old Giffrow house. Various residents travel to Sioux City, McCook Lake, Yankton, and Akron. Death of Mrs. William Wilkinson noted with funeral at Harrington home and Riverside cemetery services.
Mrs Alfred Kjose and son Dennis and Mrs N P Nielson spent the day with Mrs Martin Kjose from Spink. Mr and Mrs Earl Brubaker called at Harvey Welch's home Friday afternoon. Several families from the vicinity were Sunday visitors. Roy Knecht and family east of Alkron visited Clarence Andrews. Mrs Delphine Trade of Alcester and Nettie Hutchinson and sons Ray and Francis of western South Dakota spent Monday with Harvey Welch. Victor Andrews of Langus is visiting his brother Clarence. Dr F A Harmon of Springfield D D Prof C J Avis of Des Moines and others from Elk Point teachers institute visited Mrs Schneiderheinze to view her flower garden. Mrs Albin Anderson and children Elmer Klemme and family and Ole Abraham family attended the Cleveland school fair last Tuesday evening, reporting a large crowd. Try the Want Ad Column.
The Women’s Christian Temperance Union will meet Friday October 6 at the Baptist Church. Devotions led by Mrs. W. Mellen. Members urged to attend and participate in the election of officers and reporters.
