Westfield notes record longtime Ander son yard manager Fred Haas visiting Elk Point Monday. Various residents change homes, travel to Sioux City, and attend gatherings with mentions of the Kane Flynn Martin families and the Frank Teager group. A fatal Chicago auto crash involving Leo Wise is noted, along with school events, birthdays, and local social calls.
Special Correspondence reports hay harvest plentiful with farmers baling. Lyle Sagen, ex Sunnyside instructor, visited Sunday with parents Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Sagen. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Sagen move furniture to Sioux City home at 318 Highteenth Street, Lyle to live with them. Mrs. E. J. Lawrence shows improvement and writes letters again as her limb heals.
Union Creek Lutheran services next Sunday at 8 pm and Luther League gathering Tuesday at Luther Hall. It notes the sudden death of J I A Johnson of San Francisco from a fall, with funeral held in Akron. Numerous visitors from Hawarden Sioux City and Chicago are listed visiting relatives and attending services.
Special Richland Roundups note two highway collisions near Richland with Pollock Akron and Bernard cars, both badly smashed but no serious injuries. A further Sunday collision near town involving Clifford Green party and Art Staum also left wrecked cars. Richland Orchestra performed at a Friday PTA meeting. The Home Project meeting for Westfield township will be held at Mrs Brank Orr's home north of the Ogden schoolhouse on Tuesday October 3. All are cordially invited to attend. Bring a covered dish and sandwiches for yourself. The lesson will be on Toy Making conducted by Miss Pearl Sims. Each person should bring Rockford socks eleven small empty spools one large empty spool a small paintbrush an old magazine and a rag and be there by 10 4 m.
Floyd Wells of Waverly Iowa conducted business in Chatsworth on Wednesday. Will Ludwig and wife visited their niece in Nebraska over the weekend. Billy Ludwig and wife welcomed a baby girl born last Thursday. D K Bennett and wife attended Leo Wise’s funeral in Akron. Mrs Frank Vogelzang is recovering from illness. James Adams and wife of Sioux City visited Henry Burnight's home Friday. Mrs Bart Slife and Mrs McLeod of Hawarden called on Orin Harts at his home Sunday.
The Heys spent Wednesday night with aunt Lizzie Miller. Many attended the Pleasant Hill school fair Thursday afternoon and evening. Carrol Hamilton hosted a Sunday dinner for Delbert’s fifth birthday with guests including Ebba Willms, William Skinner, Dick Hamilton, Mildred Willms, Earnest Meske, and George Ahrens. Walter Heyl and Martha Barington visited the Hamilton home, and Bill Halvorsen and family were mentioned.
A garbled list records Sunday visits and observers including Mrs W Lamoureux and daughter Leivis Hoerens, Henry Busch, Harry and Freda Ball, Hawar visitors, Arden Swanson with tonsil removal at Akron hospital Monday, George Wilken as caller, and visits to the Lewison home by Mr and Mrs Arthur Lewison Emma Lewison and Harnest Johnson.
Pleasant Hill Special Correspondence reports the Annual Fair at Pleasant Hill School last Thursday drew a fair crowd. Exhibits featured vegetables fruit enriched goods grain flowers and fancy work. Credit goes to teacher Miss Marjorie Holmquist. Several local residents visited relatives in nearby towns over the weekend and attendees also joined the Brule Creek Lutheran church cornerstone event.

Residents such as Lois and Doris Kiewel, Will Kiewel, and August Erickson share visits and travel reports. Vera Willer underwent appendicitis surgery at Akeron hospital. County nurse Roberts audits rural schools in Westfield township amid a scarlet fever case at Breezy Hill school. Beresford visitors, John Reomts and family hosts, and Marcus businessman B J Rubbert checked on farms.
Mr and Mrs Wesley Brown and Mr and Mrs Henry Bilks attended the Spencer Indiana fair last Thursday. A ball game of interest was played at Crathorne Saturday afternoon between the married men of the United Brethren church of Adaville.
The Otterbein Guild hosted a social in the church basement with many residents listed, including Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Lindsey and Miss Mildred Gai of Morningside. The event opened September 20 with a waterfolow-social and a brief address by Athos D Dreos, ending with a note about John Milbrodt’s appearance next Thursday.
Auction at City fair last week saw a grand champion pig weighing 190 pounds sell for 36 cents per pound to the Sioux City Stockyards company. Thompson of Kingsley ta, ta. assisted as exhibitor and the animal was resold to Stoup and Schaefer who will distribute proceeds to the poor.
