Obituary for Mrs. David Weisenburger 72

Mrs. David Weisenburger 72 of 2602 Chambera Street Sioux City died Saturday at home after a long illness. Born Hannah Melnnis July 13 1896 in Akron Iowa she married W L Wise October 24 1914 and moved to Sioux City in 1929. Survived by her widower a son and seven grandchildren with several daughters, brothers and sisters. She remarried David Weisenburger in March 1934 and attended the Presbyterian Church.

Drainage ditch planned for overflow to Big Sioux River

Supervisors agreed to provide a drainage ditch to channel surplus overflow during heavy rains. The scheme targets the southern area near Ale toward the Big Sioux River to prevent flooding and protect nearby property.

Kirk Wachtmann of Arroyo Grande, grandson of Art and Mrs. Wachtmann of Madera, joins Callison College's charter class at University of the Pacific and travels to a Bangalore India campus for a year. Hank Wachtmann oversees Arroyo Grande school district duties and Mrs. Wachtmann trains 35 teachers. Kirk plans a Europe tour with his parents before junior year. Hank, aka Henry Arthur, graduated Akron High School in 1938.

Norby Named County Agricultural Agent Candidate

The Union county extension board recommends Charles Norby for county agricultural agent effective November 1, pending state Board of Regents approval. Norby, a Carpenter South Dakota native, holds BS and MS from South Dakota State University, taught vocational agriculture for five years, and now serves as associate county agent and county weed supervisor in Day county with his wife and three sons seeking housing near Elk Point.
