The Akron Register Tribune announces subscription rates set at 3.00 per year with six months at 1.50 in Plymouth Sioux and Woodbury Counties Iowa and Union County South Carolina 3.50 per year for all other areas.
Special correspondence from Westfield covers travel to St Louis by Richard D. Mitchell, hospital surgery in Sioux City for Albert Hummel, local visits in West Port to Cherokee and Sutherland, and a series of family gatherings. Community notes include Ladies Aid plans, a junior play, and obituaries.
Sealed bids for 105000 in school bonds of Westfield Community School District are invited until 8:00 p.m. December 8, 1969, at the district office. Bids specify interest rates, bonds dated December 1 1969 in 5000 denominations, and will be awarded to the lowest interest cost. Delivery may occur in Des Moines or at a district office. Right to reject bids reserved. Secretary Arlene M Morehead announces. Published Akron Register Tribune issues November 6 and 13 1969.
Westfield school release lists honor roll standards and student grades. Grade 12 includes Dixie Arnett Sheryl Banks Doug Fymbo Jim Kelley Lee Robak Carla Weber Colleen Welch with various A and B tallies. Grade 11 shows Debbie Bye Rita Dewey with A and B counts. Grade 10 covers Becky Banks Robert Kelly April Nystrup Lynn Whitney. Grade 9 notes Donna Leekley with A and B counts.
Lyle Mackey says Plymouth County farmers tripled fertilizer use from 1958 to 1968 reaching over 28 thousand tons while soil tests show phosphorus is often the main limiting nutrient and nitrogen may also be scarce. He notes oversupply in some cases and urges farm soil testing now to guide next year’s fertilizer needs.
Thomas A. Ross was born December 12, 1871 in Union County near Jefferson South Carolina and moved to Hancock Township Iowa in 1879. A Drake University law graduate he preferred farming and aided neighbors legally at home. He married Magdalena Kundert in 1918 and died November 2 1969 in Akron Nursing Home after ill health. He leaves a sister and a brother and was active in PTA and fraternal orders. Funeral services were held at the Westfield Congregational Church with burial in Logan Park Sioux City.
Clarence Feauto aged 68 of Oakland California formerly Akron died last Wednesday at Piralto hospital after a surgical stay. Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Leo church Oakland with burial there. He left Akron 35 years ago and lived in California since. Survivors include his widow and two brothers Ambrose Akron and Ulysses Sioux City.

Airman Don C Keiser of Alcester SD graduates from Sheppard AFB Texas and will serve with SAC at Offutt AFB Nebraska.
The Odd Balls led with a team series of 2586 and a high team game of 907. Individual leaders included Phil Beaubien 583 and Don Kapfer 574 in series, Ted Willer 225 and Merlin Trometer 216 in games, Norm Klemme 529 and Norm Nielsen 529 in series, Ron Schroeder 523 in series, with Klemme 212 and Schroeder 194 in games. Twins posted a 1882 team series and a 660 team game.
Barwicks topped the team event with 2379 in AKRON Lumber 2331. Gary Hillrichs led with 563 in the indi series and 223 in the game, tying with Lawrence Maynard for 563 and outpacing Vernon Robinson at 205 in the solo game.
Kerr Motor and Gar vins Vets posted a high team series of 2415 with Taylor Trucking at 2221. Garvins led high team game with 885 while Kerr Motor followed at 857. Lawrence Maynard topped individual series with 557 with Ed Hartmann at 538. Maris Goodrich had the top individual game at 213 and Hartmann followed with 194.
October 28 1968 Classic Bowling League standings show high individual series Alvin Beech 572 Ron Schroeder 562 and top games Ray Green 215 Ray Jespersen 214. Team leaders include Akron Savings Bank 2577 for series and Nielsens Service 916 for a single game while Jets post 1842 team series and 652 team game. Lawrence Maynard 525 Lavonne Maynard 448 lead individual series.
High individual series was Lois Klemme 510 and Marge Dykstra 509. Dorothy Hope led high individual game with 192, followed by Marge Dykstra 189. High team series went to Red Raiders at 1299, with Ten Pinners at 1245. High team games were Red Raiders 450 and 449.
