Funeral services for Clark Lilly age 75 of Westfield Iowa were held Monday October 30 at 10 30 am at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev Ralph Burdette officiating Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery pallbearers listed Lilly family Survivors include wife Gail Campbell son Arnold of Sioux City daughters Mrs Milton Wagner and Mrs Calvin Gruss brother Vernon of Sioux City sisters Mrs Henry Clark and Mrs Albert Henry eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Mr Lilly died October 26 in Hawarden Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 30 1897 in Plymouth County and farmed in the Westfield area retiring in 1967.

In Sioux Center a new amateur league named the Northwest Iowa Baseball League was formed with Akron-Hawarden Le Mare Primghar Rock Valley Sioux Center Sioux City and Sloan as entrants. Play is double round robin then playoffs ending by early August. The champion may enter the Iowa State Tournament. Interested towns should contact Ron Jaffer Paul Knudtson or Jim Woods. charter and officer elections planned.

Earl W. Gillespie 85 of Akron died October 24 1972 in a Rochester Minnesota hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held October 26 at Schroeder Funeral Chapel with Rev Dean Orris officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery under Schroeder Funeral Home direction. He was born September 5 1886 in Rugby North Dakota and lived in Rochester 1919, Akron 1929, returning to Rochester last July. Survived by his mother Mrs Vivian Waterbury Akron and two brothers William R Denver and Harold S Fayfbault Minnesota.
