The Register-Tribune published in Akron Iowa under Ray A Smith as publisher. The paper issued weekly on Thursdays and entered as second class mail at Akron, with registration dated Sept 26 1901.
Westfield society column recaps visits and travels of local families from McCook Sioux City and Akron. It notes a death in Burbank and funeral attendance, church services, school exams and graduations, Ladies Aid meetings, upcoming picnics, road work proposals, farm and cattle notes, and social events with residents and nearby towns.
Special Correspondence notes Richard Milner and daughter Priscilla visiting Sioux City Saturday. Audrey Milner listed as sick. Fred Maloney showing some improvement. Mrs Cramer and Mrs Wilson spent weekend in town then returned Tuesday due to heavy rain. Cramer and Wilson were business callers in LeMars Monday. Gordon Kilstrom and Daryl Taylor, Akron High School graduates, are featured in Westfield Middlings. A birthday party honored Myrtle Westre with Mrs. Frank Smith, Mrs. Melvin Johnson, and Mrs. L Huebsch attending. Miss Jeanette McInnis from Miller, South Dakota, visiting L F Taylor and set to attend Daryl’s graduation.
Mrs Huebsch marks her birthday while slowly recuperating after being bed ridden since the start of the year. Mrs Bruno Hartmann has recovered enough to be up and around again following a recent illness.
All children are informed to stop riding bicycles on sidewalks and to ride with extreme care in downtown streets during heavy traffic. Obey traffic rules to prevent accidents or face enforcement of the town ordinance. By order of Council. Dick Bohlken, Mayor.
