Book and Thimble club’s final 1975-76 meeting

Members gathered at Ruth Millard’s home for a breakfast with co hosts Daryl Leibens and Wanda Philips on the sunrise side of the city. Special guests included retiring IFWC county president Mary Hodgson and county treasurer Clara Atwood. Legislative chair Lorna Easton urged voting registration. Seventeen members answered roll call and discussed a 1976 77 yearbook and program. The group requested recipes for a state federated club cookbook and then attended Akron Community School to hear an award winning swing choir directed by Barbara Wotrobeck.

Marine Pfc Tom Schneider reports for duty in Okinawa

Marine Private First Class Thomas A. Schneider, 20, son of Mr and Mrs Milton R Schneider of 320 Sargent St Akron, has reported for duty with the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa Japan. A 1975 graduate of Akron Community High School, he joined the Marine Corps in October 1975.

Community Residents Visit Nursing Home Friends

A long list of visits and social activities at the nursing home includes Marie Degen playing piano on Monday. Visitors from California to South Dakota called, lunch was served by Faith and Hope from Immanuel Lutheran, and birthday celebrations were held for Grover Rollins. A silent movie and Burns and Allen show entertained residents, swing choir performances included, and thanks were extended to the Hospital Auxiliary for bars provided at Open House.
