The Prairie Gold Area Council urges Akron residents to fill Good Turn Day Bags with clothing and items for handicapped workers at Goodwill Industries. Cub Scouts under Jim Henrich will distribute bags this Saturday, May 19, with collections by 8 30 a m on May 26. Do not include newspapers or magazines.

Open House Marks First Year Of Plains Area Mental Health Center
May eight attendance at the Plains Area Mental Health Center open house in Le Mars highlighted the center’s first year of operation. Board members were elected and re-elected, with Dr Chas Lemke as Chairman and Arian Beech as Vice-Chairman. The center expanded to five days a week, saw 166 patients, and plans to grow services in Plymouth County while seeking certification from the Iowa Mental Health Authority.
