Sioux Valley Ex Club plans a Friday Vermillion excursion with a noontime meet at Edith Baker's home, lunch in Vermillion, museum visit. Friendship and Service Club May 10 with 18 members, roll call quips, reports, book talks, and dues increase. Book donations to local library planned and Child to Camp project eyed. An MS Drive and 4-H House to House canvass were announced for June 9, with Akron club members collecting for Multiple Sclerosis. Several area graduates from South Dakota, Buena Vista, Morningside, and Westmar are listed, alongside staff-sargent Merlyn Kiemme and family departing for Belgium, with a farewell picnic held at Akron Park.

Rainbow Girls Hold Nineteenth Installation in Akron

The Akron Assembly of Rainbow Girls observed its nineteenth installation on Sunday May 13 at 7 pm. Officers installed included Worthy Advisor Cindy Tucker and other officers with installing officers Sue Garvin Ruby Brown Lucile Ross Beverly Graham Julie Larson. The ceremony featured pledges songs and a piano solo plus refreshments and guest duties.

Petersen escapes injury in Akron cycle crash near farm wagon

Gary Petersen 28, assistant shop foreman at Dirks Motor Co and gun shop owner, escaped serious injury when his 1972 Yamaha hit the rear of a farm wagon four miles north of Akron on highway 12. He was treated at Akron hospital for cuts and bruises, then released. Deputy Dennis Osterbuhr cited Plymouth County sheriff and state trooper Duane Lynch as investigators.
