Two Young Men Hurt In Westfield Crash

Two young men were injured in a one car crash about 1 05 am Sunday in Westfield. Terry Tweet 20 of Hudson and Mark Dreengen 18 of rural Merrill were taken to hospitals with head injuries and cuts and bruises. The car struck a light pole as it turned into the Knotty Keg driveway. Police had not yet identified the driver. The vehicle was registered to Ray Dreesen of rural Merrill. Investigating officers were Gene Sims and Richard Helers of the Iowa Highway Patrol.

Trinity ALCW Hosts Mother Daughter Tea

About 150 mothers daughters and guests attended the Mother Daughter Tea at Trinity Lutheran Church hosted by ALCW. Invitations went to ALCW groups at St Matthews and Brule Creek. Ruth Cirete presented the program Dai Tell. Eight mothers and their daughters spoke on the petals of a dais and the meaning of Mother. Music included a clarinet duet by Cheryl Furgensen and Tamette Klemme Now Thank We All Our God and a vocal solo by Diana Willer For God So Loved The World. Prizes included youngest mother oldest mother and largest combined ages. A humorous highlight awarded a geranium to the mother with the dirtiest back yard.

Death of Rev TaRoy Crocker Stuns Akron Community

Word of the Rev TaRoy Crocker 80 died in Dinuba California on May 2. He served Akron as a Christian Church minister 1913 1914 and was ordained in 1912. He retired in 1955 and lived in Dinuba for 16 years. Survived by widow Lydia three sons George LeRoy Jr Robert three daughters Merle Harper Alice Greg ly Dorothy Thatcher seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
