Weekend visit to Nelson and Hawks households

Scott Anderson visited his grandparents Mr and Mrs Ed Nelson Saturday. Ed Nelson hosted an afternoon guest Sunday with Nelson family members. Terry Gries and baby Chris were overnight guests of Mr and Mrs Al Hawks from Sioux City.

Union County Farm Bureau Board Meets at Elk Point Home

Union County Farm Bureau executive board met April 28 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Ballinger in Elk Point. Routine business and a banquet report were given, committees named, and the summer picnic discussed. Seminar students from local high schools were announced and a seminar will be held near Watertown in August. Next meeting is May 19 at the Hawarden home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson, with daylight saving time noted for 8:30. Mrs. Ballinger served strawberry shortcake.
