Congregational Ladies Aid Meets at Westfield Church

Obituary: F Kenneth Edgar of Sioux City 62

F Kenneth Edgar 62 of Sioux City a former Akron resident died after a heart attack at a city hospital on Tuesday. Funeral services were held Friday at Anderson Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. He worked 9 years in the city assessor’s office after 31 years at Toy National Bank. He was born July 29 1906 in Akron Iowa and moved to Sioux City at 17. He married Louise Augusts in Elk Point in 1928. Survivors include his widow a son Jack M in Englewood Colorado a brother two sisters and three grandchildren.

Dr. Ploeger Named Boss of the Year in Marshalltown

Dr Richard Ploeger 50 was named Boss of the Year at the Marshalltown Jaycees awards banquet. Akron FFA Hosts Parent Son Mixer in April Event

The Akron FFA held a parent son mixer on April 23 at the Akron gym with president Jerry Wych welcoming guests. Akron Native Waterbury dies at 61 in Minnesota

Donald L. Waterbury, longtime Akron resident, died Friday May 2 in a Minneapolis hospital after an extended illness at age 61. Born August 8 1907 in Akron Iowa he excelled in football and basketball at Akron High School. He later baked in Sioux City, owned Akron Bakery, worked in rail and ran a cafe. Survived by sister Mrs Mildred Lenagh and brother Sylvan Waterbury among others. Funeral Tuesday at St Patrick’s Akron officiated by Rev John Schissel with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
