F Kenneth Edgar 62 of Sioux City a former Akron resident died after a heart attack at a city hospital on Tuesday. Funeral services were held Friday at Anderson Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. He worked 9 years in the city assessor’s office after 31 years at Toy National Bank. He was born July 29 1906 in Akron Iowa and moved to Sioux City at 17. He married Louise Augusts in Elk Point in 1928. Survivors include his widow a son Jack M in Englewood Colorado a brother two sisters and three grandchildren.

Dr Richard Ploeger 50 was named Boss of the Year at the Marshalltown Jaycees awards banquet. As Marshall County Superintendent of Schools he helped secure a federal grant for a new building for the trainable mentally retarded and added staff. He and his wife Carol have two children Jeff and Christine.
The Union County Weed Board in Elk Point South Dakota invites sealed bids until 8:00 p.m. May 19, 1969, for 1200 pounds of 2,4-D Low Volatile Ester in 300 gallon drums and 10 gallons of Tordaon 212 in five gallon drums. Bidders must list price per pound of acid equivalent and provide a label copy. The board may reject any or all bids. send bids to County Agricultural Agent Chuck Norby.
The Akron FFA held a parent son mixer on April 23 at the Akron gym with president Jerry Wych welcoming guests. Guest speaker Bob Ford addressed attendees while awards were given to DeLynn Stone and Richard Oetken among others. New officers were installed with Richard Less as president and Scott Hemmingsen as secretary.

Donald L. Waterbury, longtime Akron resident, died Friday May 2 in a Minneapolis hospital after an extended illness at age 61. Born August 8 1907 in Akron Iowa he excelled in football and basketball at Akron High School. He later baked in Sioux City, owned Akron Bakery, worked in rail and ran a cafe. Survived by sister Mrs Mildred Lenagh and brother Sylvan Waterbury among others. Funeral Tuesday at St Patrick’s Akron officiated by Rev John Schissel with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
