Old English Plum Pudding Recipe Shared by Esther Myers

A century old plum pudding recipe from Esther Myers, Akron native now in Sherman Oaks California. The note recalls making it for Christmas and for Ike Knudsen at Commercial club dinners. Akron hospital auxiliary board meeting notes in April

The Akron hospital auxiliary board held an 8 p.m. meeting on April 27 in the hospital board room. Miriam Hemmingsen read the secretary report and Carol Port presented the treasurer report and bake sale update. Discussions covered nursing home purchasing needs and two committees for a nursing home item list and a float for the Gay 90s Bi centennial parade on June 11.

TOPS members honored with ARD trophy

Akron TOPS 893 member Teresa Carlson earned a second place stork division ARD trophy at the Denison Iowa convention held April 24. The Akron group reported other clubs and weight loss honors while eight members met as Lucille Welch led the meeting with pledge and TOPS song.

Akron city council authorized a trencher rate of 65c per lineal foot plus 10 percent above wire cost. Police officer Roger Cook will attend law enforcement school June 1 in Sioux City. Officers' salaries raised to 550 monthly. new police car anticipated. Block Grant funds: 40000 for west side sewer, 20000 for housing rehab. Mr and Mrs James Clementson of Laramie Wyoming welcomed a son born Wednesday April 7 1976 at Ivenson hospital. The boy weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces and is named Tyler James with a sister Heather age 4. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Henry Gebauer of Akron. Mrs Gebauer visited during hospital stay and at home.

Amy Agnes Named Oldest Mother At Akron Senior Dinner

Akron Senior Citizen club met May 3 at noon with 56 members and 9 guests. President Gant opened the meeting after a catered lunch by Central Catering Service Hawarden. Organist Gail Hemmingsen and pianist Marie Degen provided music while Amy Agnes received a plant for being the oldest mother present. A four generation group from Lemen, Klemme, Prunty, and Brooke Prunty of Waverly attended. Afternoon activities included cards and bingo with coffee and cookies served.

Melinda Sue Thorson of Akron will receive her bachelor degree at Webster College Webster Groves Missouri during graduating exercises Saturday afternoon May 8 at the Loretto Hilton Center 130 Edgar Road Webster Groves.
