Sincere sympathy is extended to relatives and friends of Albert Bernhardt who died Saturday morning at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Approximately 75 boys left Sioux City by bus Friday night and returned Sunday evening, touring Silver Dollar City with attractions such as a hillbilly town replica, cable car ride, tree house, a staged hillbilly holdup, a flooded mine, and craft shops. Nursing Home Socials and Visits Mark a Community Week
The Home Culture Club served cinnamon rally and coffee for lunch at the nursing home. Residents enjoyed movies from Sonna Trotzig about Hawaii. Milestone birthdays and visits filled the week with relatives, friends, and music, including Minnie Postlewaite’s 95th birthday, and bingo with orange prizes. Daylight savings time began, bringing earlier wakeups.

Under the Science Club sponsorship Westfield Junior High and High School classes conducted a one hour cleanup of the Westfield community on April 13. They filled five pickups with trash and discarded items and hope to make it an annual event.

Next meeting will be at Penny Hartmann's. Union County Extension Home makers Annual Achievement Day is Monday May 7 at Elk Point City Auditorium basement with 10 to 10 30 coffee and registration. A 25 cent fee covers costs. Each Extension Homemakers Club displays Our Heritage projects or original crafts. At 11 00 a.m. a slide program Its the Real Spring on styles will be shown followed by noon luncheon and awards to veteran members officers and a 50 year club. Frank D Tracy 82 of rural Elk Point died April 26 1973 at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. He was born October 2 1889 in Plymouth county and moved to South Dakota in 1919 after WWI service. He married Mary Hagan in 1925 and they farmed in Union county.
