Iowa student Marc Lewison of Akron made the University of South Dakota arts and sciences honor list. Phi EtaSigma for 1972-73 at USD announced officers led by president Brian Wirt and vice president Marten Trotzig. Incoming freshmen at Iowa State attended orientation in September with Julie Jacobs of Akron among attendees.

Holstein man dies after long illness at 74

Lester Bagenstos 74 of Holstein Town died June 25 in a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services were held June 28 at 2 p.m. at the Holstein funeral home with Rev. Roger Peterson officiating. Burial in Silver Township Cemetery. Survivors include his widow and two daughters and a son Martin of Akron Iowa.

4-H'era Camp Brings Middle Schoolers to Outdoor Life

Intermediate 4-H'ers gathered at the State 4-H Camping Center near Madrid Iowa from June 25 to 28 for conservation hikes fitness and health training plus craft activities like sand candles macrame and tie dye. County Council members Pat Kennedy and Janet Brangwin led as adults including Mrs Orville Schuster Mrs Norman Barker and Diane Brunkhorst provided supervision.
