Dean's List highlights across Iowa colleges

Buena Vista College in Storm Lake named 108 students to the Dean's List with GPAs from 3.50 to 3.79. Augustana College listed 133 students in the 3.8 to 4.0 range, including Cathy Miller and Darlyl Willer of Akron. Thomas Martin earned an A A degree at Sioux Empire College in Hawarden. Rev. Ray Boyens spoke at the graduation. Wartburg College reported 410 students named to the Winter May Term Dean's List with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Jim Haage of Akron also made the list.

The Border Bells 4-H club met June 5 at 7 30 at Valerie and Greta Philips home. Valerie led the pledge and Marlene Hitze mann presided. Members reported, discussed wall hangings dues and camp fees, with plans for June 7 meeting and July 24 achievement night. Demonstrations covered zippers hooks and eyes sewing buttons interfacings. A lunch was served by Valerie and Greta.

Funeral services for Edward J De Laurier in San Jose CA

Funeral services were held Thursday morning for Edward J De Laurier 65 of 4805 Vanderbilt Drive San Jose California. He died June 12 in a Santa Clara hospital after an extended illness. He worked twenty one years as an inspector with Lockheed Aircraft. He is survived by his wife Helen Klauer De Laurier two daughters Nancy Ann Via Mountain View and Karol Sue Cooper Ukia his mother Roseanne De Laurier Jefferson SD a brother three sisters and three grandchildren. Burial followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Los Altos after a Requiem Mass at St Thomas of Canterbury Church.

SESD Twilight Tour Scheduled At South East Farm

The annual twilight tour for the South East Research farm is planned for Wednesday evening June 28. SDSU researchers and extension specialists will discuss corn and soybean herbicide results crop insects soil fertility and bean variety performance. About 190 area farmers attended last year’s event. Pasture interseeding results look strong with seedings of Rambler alfalfa and Oahe intermediate wheatgrass showing established stands and high yield potential.
