Alfalfa Aphids and Local 4-H Notes in Union County

Reports of heavy alfalfa pea aphid infestations in Beresford area fields with Malathion good kill results noted. Widespread aphid presence in several fields prompts monitoring for two weeks. Also covered are corn cutworm warnings in Clay County with Carbaryl and related insecticides after emergence. 4-H dates include tractor driving contest June 27 Alcester and club camp July 19 Madison.

Mrs Walter Harvey dies at 91 in LeMars Iowa

Clara Evelyn Tucker Harvey a 91 year old Plymouth County resident died June 18 at Floyd Valley Hospital after a months long illness. She was born September 16 1888 in Akron and lived in LeMars and Marcus before returning to LeMars in 1968. Survived by two daughters two grandchildren eight great grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral services were held June 20 at First United Methodist Church LeMars with burial in LeMars Memorial Cemetery.
