Border Belles 4-H Club Meets in June 1969

The Border Belles 4-H Club held its June 23, 1969 meeting at La Venne Willer’s home. Thirteen members attended as officers led pledges and reports. They voted to fund half the camper costs for LaVonne Willer, planned food stand help for the fair, and building a 4-H float for LeMars Centennial. Local Achievement moved to July 23. next meeting set for July 14 at Betty Popken’s home.

Johnson Jr Homemakers Hold June Workshop at Allen Home

The Johnson Jr Homemakers held an all day workshop on June 23 at Diana and Donna Allen's home. Jean Miller spoke on buying with care, Marilyn Ruden demonstrated hems, and Diana Allen discussed using patterns. The group prepared fair projects and planned a July 7 meeting at Jackie Betsworth’s home, reported by Nancy Ruden.

USDA Iowa complete Wholesome Meat Act agreement

The USDA and Iowa have completed a cooperative agreement to develop a state meat inspection program under the Wholesome Meat Act of 1967.
