Shorty reports a relaxing weekend visiting a Minnesota Twins game with friends. They camped near Minneapolis for two nights, enjoyed front row seats behind home plate, and observed a mix of joys and a few sad moments. Cautions about vacations and safety follow a rash of local drownings.

The Akron CRD meeting in the city park on Wednesday, June 16 elected officers including Mayor Doug Olson, City Clerk Michele Eskra, historian Teresa Nelson, secretary Lisa Osterbuhr, reporter Mary Manley, Park board Kim Waterburyh and Brian Osterbuhr, and justice of peace Tina Hoff.

Attendants include Mrs. Harold Vander Schoor, Mr. and Mrs. John Bouwman, matron of honor Mrs. Dave Van Bruggen, bridesmaids Mrs. Norm DeBoom and Janet Bouwman, flower girl Michelle Hegeman, ringbearer Brent DeBoom, best man Gary Ericson, groomsmen Edward and Jeff Bouwman, ushers Jim and Rod Fastert and Dave Van Bruggen and Dave Klemme. Reception in church basement. Couple to reside at 730 Reed St. Akron. Descendants of John Fletcher reunion held June 20 at Akron Legion hall with potluck and awards for oldest, youngest, and farthest traveler. Prize winners include Mrs. Vera Erickson, Donald Fletcher, Kathie Stout.
Marlin G Harris of Akron attended two day orientation meetings at Iowa State University this past week. He plans to join the college of engineering in September and took aptitude and placement tests while meeting counselors. Tours of departments and fraternity and church programs helped him become familiar with campus buildings and lab locations for fall quarter.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bergdale of Alcester will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday June 27 with an open house at the Big Springs Baptist church six miles south and one mile east of Alcester. Hours are 2 to 5 p.m. with a 2:30 program. Hosting are children Harlan Bergdale Yorba Linda California and Robert Stenstrom St. Paul Minnesota. They have seven granddaughters and one great grandson. They request no gifts.
The Akron school board directs members to attend a regular meeting at 7 30 p m on June 24. Directors will discuss district agenda items and related public matters.

Mrs Bernice Heasley and Art Andrew with three daughters traveled from Vancouver Washington after visiting relatives in Akron including Mrs Granstrom and the Heeren families. Bicentennial day dinners drew many guests from Minnesota Iowa South Dakota and Nebraska. A June 17 1976 birth delighted Mr and Mrs Garry Jacobson of Fargo North Dakota. Leisure visits and travel among local families continued with relatives from Sioux City Sioux Falls Elk Point and Dallas Texas.
Plymouth county Federated Women's club presidents and program chairmen met in Akron on Tuesday afternoon June 15 to plan the years activities. Mrs Jerold Dykstra led discussions on fundraising, especially cookbooks and recipes to support scholarships statewide. Local clubs will sell cookbooks this fall. Attendees included club leaders from Le Mars, Akron, and nearby groups along with county officials Arley Philips and Vivian McPherson.
Anita Henrich, daughter of Gerald F. and Mrs. Henrich of rural Akron, is among 121 Briar Cliff college students named to the dean's list for the third term of 1975-76. A full-time student must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA. 23 students topped the list with 4.0.
Members and families of the late George W. and June Davis gathered at Pleasant Hill Chapel on Sunday June 6 for a family reunion. Eighty one signed the register as relatives traveled from North Bend Fremont Nebr Sioux City Hinton Sutherland Sumner Le Mars and Orange City in Iowa Vermillion Hariey Jefferson Sioux Falls Beresford Elk Point Alcester South Dakota. Committees led by Herbert Fickbohm Oscar Solberg and the 1977 organizers Clayton James Floyd Davis Walter Davis.
