Bicentennial Series E bonds go on sale July 4 Akron first National

First National Bank of Akron will issue Bicentennial design series E savings bonds dated July 4 to customers between July 4 and July 30 1976. Denominations range 25 to 1000 with prices 18.75 to 750. Interest 6 percent at five years with 10 year extension. Bond terms unchanged.

Nursing home visitors share goodwill and parade day cheer

Catholic ladies Pat Bernard Mrs Wayne Blake Connie Coyle and Viola Gale brought fruit and played bingo at the nursing home while Gertie Brown of Akron called on friends. A Peter Tchaikovsky film was shown in the dining room with coffee as Lois Warenhorst Lizzie Haage Alma Knecht Helen Tentinger and others visited Anna Meyer and friends. Parish activities and a parade drew many residents and guests throughout the day.

Dennis Hultgren Named In Who's Who in the Midwest Biography

Dennis Hultgren of rural Akron has been honored with a biography in the current Who's Who in the Midwest. The biographical volume covers Illinois to Ontario and lists 18,500 qualified individuals evaluated by independent appraisers. Weather Breaks Heat Wave As Cold Front Arrives

Heavy clouds and a light misty rain followed a Monday cold front that dropped temperatures into the fifties by Tuesday morning. The spell of mid to upper 90s disrupted crops, while Valerie Dierks of Akron joined about 300 high school students at Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State at the University of Northern Iowa. Delegates formed Federalist and Nationalist parties and elected city, county and state officials during the week-long program.

Robert Koch named to Drake honor lists in 1976 spring

Robert H. Koch of rural route 3 Akron is among 889 Drake University students named to the president's and dean's honor lists for the spring 1976 semester.
