An open house at Peace Lutheran church Alcester on June 13 honored Ella Lewison for her 90th birthday. More than 300 attendees enjoyed a program of music readings and a special birthday song by great grandchildren. Pastor Neal Ahart led devotions. Lunch catered by Walter Youngs Akron. Attendees came from multiple states and towns. Ella has seven grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Curtis Sangstad of Alcester will mark 25 years of marriage with an open house July 11 at Roseni Lutheran rural Beresford.

Teachers Attend Summer Art Workshop at Minnesota Center
Mrs J F McVay and Ms Denice Kolker, Akron Community Schools teachers, attended a one week session at the University of Minnesota summer arts study center at Quadna Mountain Lodge Hill City Minnesota from June 21 to 25. McVay focused on landscape painting with field trips to paint from nature using watercolor oils acrylics or pastels. Kolker studied Greek drama in translation and its influence on modern drama and literature in the twentieth century.
