The Register-Tribune announces subscription rates for one year at two dollars and six months for half year, with pricing in effect for Akron Town. Published every Thursday and entered as second class mail on Sept 26, 1901.
Catherine Spaulding of Yankton college class of 1938 visits her parents. Numerous local outings unfold at Crystal Lake and Sioux City. Wedding of social clubs, picnics at Riversioux Park, and family gatherings mark a busy Westfield scene. Myrtle Wester dies after long illness, aged 34.
Myrtle, long-suffering yet cheerful, requested baptism before death. Survived by father, mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Funeral at home officiated by Rev. Chas Seward, burial in Riverside Cemetery Akron. floral tributes noted.
To the many friends and neighbors who kindly assisted during the illness and death of our loving daughter Myrtle we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation from Mr and Mrs Jonas Wester.
Westfield Middlings column notes Mr and Mrs John Smith of near Burke SD spent Sunday with brother Frank Smith. Funeral attendance for Myrtle Wester in Westfield. Sympathy extended to Mr and Mrs J Wester. Visitors Ruth Fischer Frazee MN Margaret Herbst Doris Herbst Louie Herbst Storden MN at L C Huebsein home. Strawberries at L F Taylor farm. Miller Hansen Son Akron fixed Axel Kilstrom well. Mrs Orville Harbeck and children from Sioux City stayed with relatives. Clifford and Alfred Clarey vacation at Mrs Tom Clarey home. Mrs Barton Tone’s sister from Hawarden staying this week.
Next Sunday service at 11 oclock with Sunday school at 10. Ladies Aid meets Thursday afternoon June 30 at Adolph Wiberg home. Visitors include Harold Hallberg and Bonnie in Sioux City. Revs D J Edward and Miriam of Alcester called on Mrs John Fredell and Mrs Olof Ericson Thursday. Mrs E Westin and Bertil Westin and Teekla Johnson and Teekla Anderson with Hannah Sellberg visited the Wm Huebner home. Arthur Claeys Jr and wife plan to live in Akron in Boyson Apartments after considering Sioux City. Mrs Ida Ross visited family over weekend. Rhoda Mae Stinehart aided her mother Harold Stinehart.
Mrs Stinchart shows signs of recovery after illness. Numerous visitors stop by Akron homes including Mr and Mrs Wm Ericson and family, Mr and Mrs Wayne Waterman from Sioux City, J W Roach and Charles Milner family, and Charley Benson who has been ailing. Charley Benson’s condition prompts calls from Rev D J Edward. Miriam Ericson helps at Clarence Kjose residence this week.
All dogs must be licensed by July 4 1938 or they will be shot without further notice. License fees are 1 for male and 2 for female if paid before July 1 with a 50 cent penalty after that date.
