Julie Jones, daughter of Richard and Mrs. Jones of Akron route 3, was named Plymouth County Pork Queen by association president Leonard Langel. She will represent the county at District Park Appreciation Day in Le Mars on June 27, with runner-up Carol Lake of Merrill. the contest was June 6 at the Extension Service office in Le Mars.
On May 15 at 7 30 Mary Warenhorst hosted the Johnson Jr Homemakers with Laurie Tindall presiding. Fifteen members attended as Gwen led the pledge to the American flag and Barb Foley reported. A Mary Warenhorst demonstration on A Perfect Hem followed a luncheon served by Mary and her mother.
The Akron 4 H club met at Cindy Andersons home with 10 members and 4 leaders. Officers led pledges and roll call. Theresa Loetz Kaye Willer updated on tours to Yankton Gurney Seed and Nursery Co Le We discussed Help Thy Neighbor Day and summer camp plans. Plans included food stand work at the fair July 26 July July 10 meeting at Thresa Loetz home. Rhonda Schroeder led pledge and demonstrations on Choosing Accessories Label Language. The group prepared favors for Akron Hospital and Nursing Home for the Fourth of July. Lori Hearen, Reporter.
