Notables include J W Nordman trip to Clarksville, Anne Tracy and Arthur Adams family ties, and Miss Violet Fry accompanying relatives to Sioux City. Community events cover Ladies Aid sessions, spring birthdays, and local travel to Yank ton Kingsley Okoboji and Lake Okoboji.
Special Correspondence recalls Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cassen and J. F. Cassen celebrating Jack’s birthday in Sioux City with Logan family. Ursula Fry and nieces visited city. Violet Fry shopped and socialized. Farmers plow corn amid heat and weeds. The Knapps visited Ames for daughter Marjorie’s return after two years at the college. Mrs. Joe Martin of Westfield and Mrs. Von Drak of Perry also noted.
Union Creek news reports Sunday services at 10 and Sunday school at 11 as Rev Edward visits Sioux Falls. Luther League set for its annual convention at Union Creek church June 26 to 28 with a local program Friday, a business meeting Saturday, a picnic, and a dinner Sunday at Luther Hall. A large local delegation is expected. Ralph Dewey visited John Thacher. Mrs Bennett and Rose left for a visit.
About forty relatives gathered at Ed Lewison's home Tuesday evening to visit Rev Bertram Peter sen and wife along with Rev Holmes and Paul Knapp from Eugene Oregon. The group traveled from Flasher North Dakota after visiting Rev Petersen's parents in Flasher. Several local families hosted and attended baptisms and visits with kin from Devil's Lake Sioux Falls and Sioux City. A large Ladies Aid meeting occurred at Herman Jacobs Sr. home with many area residents attending and shopping in Sioux City. Delbert Hamilton spent a few days with his grandparents and various relatives visited Ed Lewison's home and family members in the area.
Oliver Washburn and His Old-Timers headline a Saturday program featuring Another Case of Beer as the best Old-Time Waltzers act for local dancers.
Immediate clipping of oats seeded as a nurse crop with legumes is urged to qualify for soil conservation payments. AAA rules require clipping or pasturing to prevent mature grain. If growth is heavy, clip as high as possible and repeat. heavily pastured oats may forego clipping. Citizens are reminded to report local news to the Register- Tribune.
