Obituary for L. D. Ross 81 Akron resident

L D Ross 81 of Akron died at an Akron hospital Saturday June 2 1973 of an apparent heart attack. Funeral 10:30 am Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church Akron with Rev Ralph Burdette officiating. Born February 23 1892 in Akron he farmed locally until 1951 then retired and moved into Akron. He married Cecile Rice July 4 1914 in Sioux City who died in 1970. Survivors include one daughter Mrs Cecile Erickson of Akron one grandson and three brothers Guy Westfield Earl Akron Ted Ontario Calif.

Obituary of Howard G. Pike 85 Sioux City resident dies

Howard G. Pike 85, formerly of 3236 Idelwood St., Sioux City, died Monday night June 4, 1973, at a local nursing home after a brief illness. Born December 11, 1887 in Hancock township, Plymouth County, he worked as a carpenter and painter in the Westfield area before moving to Sioux City in 1963. Survivors include two sisters, Grace Weber of Ames and Glennie Mc Campbell of San Antonio. Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Heaton-Westcott funeral home. burial in Logan Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Poslewait, George Bray, John Taylor, Cyrus Knapp, Worth Banks, and Arden Banks.

Ames hosts 28th annual Agricultural Credit School

Don Kapfer joins 114 enrollees from Iowa and nearby states at Iowa State University for the 28th annual Agricultural Credit School held June 4 to 15. First year attendees include Donald Kapfer of Akron Savings Bank. The program offers 140 hours of instruction over two years, with graduates to be honored at a June 15 luncheon receiving certificates.

Birthday visits and parades brighten nursing home month

Shirley Nelson and Jeanne Hinrichsen of Friendship and Service Club decorated the bulletin board. A birthday dinner honored Mrs Hattie Bultman. Sarah Chambers turned 82 with cards from relatives, VBS friends and Trinity VBS singers. Numerous visitors, garden offerings, and picnic plans followed, plus a 90s Day parade and various church groups bringing songs and treats.

Odd Couple cast bows at Akron Community Theater
