Chatsworth social notes span gatherings across families and towns

Mrs Clara Satthoff hosted a Sunday dinner with the Frerichs. The Moehlmanns took their family to Haward for Father's Day. A Newton Hills picnic honored Margie Banner of Philadelphia with several De Raad and Miller families in attendance. Various visits and travel notes populate a busy social scene across Craig, Schleswig, Hawarden, Spirit Lake, Akron, Correctionville, Omaha, and Sioux City as relatives, friends, and guests appear in homes and events throughout the area.

Westfield Baseball Week Recaps and Schedule

Westfield squads played West Sioux at Hawarden losing 4 2 with bases loaded late. Westfield beat Hinton Blackhawks 3 1 at Hinton with Dan Young earning the win. Remsen St Mary defeated Westfield 13 3 as Rick Pearson hit his first homer. Schedule lists Vermillion here June 18 and Remsen St Marys there June 27. Local notes thank Mrs. Morehead for reporting and town plants donated by Mr. and Mrs. Winquist.

Senior Citizens Club Meets at Legion Hall Guests Share Germany Trip

The Senior Citizens Club gathered at Legion Hall on Monday June 18 with 44 members present. Mrs Ivys Small and Terri gave a talk about their trip to Germany. New officers were elected: President Mrs George Bern Vice President Harley Lewison Secretary Treasurer Grace Small and four directors John Frisk Oscar Kapfer Tony Weidenfeller and J A Jensen. A lunch was served after games and cards. Sioux Valley Extension Club sets July 6 at Anna Friske home with a historic 5 D monument as roll call.

Open house marks Harvey silver wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs Orlando Harvey Jr of Le Mars celebrate their 25th anniversary with an Open house at 618 Grandview addition from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Friends and relatives are invited. The couple wed June 28 1948 in Stour City. Their two daughters are Mrs Richard Anderson of Greeley Colo and Mrs Patrick Martini of Emmetsburg. They lived in Akron until 1965 when they moved to Le Mars.

Union County Farm Bureau Talent Show at Alcester

Union County Farm Bureau invites all its members to compete in the annual talent find and hobby show at the Alcester High School Board Room on June 25 at 8 p.m. Young Farmers' and Ranchers' organization runs the contest. winners receive cash prizes and may advance to the state contest. Lunch, a closing business meeting, and a bake off, flower show, and resolutions to be announced later.

Alfred Wilken visited his father John Wilken for a ride on Wednesday and John joined family on Sunday. Minnie Postlewait hosted visitors including Mrs Roy Postlewait and daughter. Fred Anderson and family from Fonca Nebr visited Minnie Sunday. Roy Robinson moved back to his old room Wednesday. Norman Robinson family and Mrs Wayne McGrill’s group called on him Sunday. Flag Day June 14 marked by Percy Smiter placing the flag. tornado anniversary noted with shingles loss on the opposite house. Betty Heyl and sons attended a Verna Lewison basket dinner. Art Pahi of Brunsville visited Minnie Clark. Arnold Clark and family from Spencer called on his mother. Norman Varenhorst and Patsy Warenhorst visited Herman Haage. Ruth Robertson and Howard Dean were visited by multiple relatives from Le Mars and San Francisco area. Ed Nelson of Westfield visited Harry and Lois Nelson. Fathers Day noted with place mats. Akron boys baseball drop two games to open season

The Akron Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball teams each lost both season openers. Varsity fell 13 2 to Rock Valley in four innings, then lost 3 2 in extra innings to George with pitcher Jerry McKivenna driving in a run on a double. Garvin and Wych stood out, and the teams plan home games June 25 and 27 along with a full schedule through July 16. The article notes growth and optimism for more wins this year.
