The Senior Citizens Club gathered at Legion Hall on Monday June 18 with 44 members present. Mrs Ivys Small and Terri gave a talk about their trip to Germany. New officers were elected: President Mrs George Bern Vice President Harley Lewison Secretary Treasurer Grace Small and four directors John Frisk Oscar Kapfer Tony Weidenfeller and J A Jensen. A lunch was served after games and cards. Sioux Valley Extension Club sets July 6 at Anna Friske home with a historic 5 D monument as roll call.

They lived in Akron until 1965 when they moved to Le Mars.

The Akron Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball teams each lost both season openers. Varsity fell 13 2 to Rock Valley in four innings, then lost 3 2 in extra innings to George with pitcher Jerry McKivenna driving in a run on a double.
