The notice lists four year subscriptions at $2, six months at $1, and three months at 60 cents. It states the paper is published weekly on Thursdays in Akron Iowa and is entered at the Akron post office as second class mail matter, dated Sept. 26, 1901.
A long list of Garland area residents hosted or visited over a series of Sundays and weekdays. Guests included Eddie Fickbohm family, Albert Lewison family, Dick Hamilton family, Henry Busch family, Chris and Menga Wilken, Walter Heyl family, Lavon Heyl in the eighth grade class, Mike Hultgren and Eldon, Harm Fisher family, Anna Overby, Milford Hultgren, and numerous Ball, Johnson, Wilken, Johnson, Beeler, Tindall, and Gable households. Local shop trips to Sioux City and Akron noted, plus birthday surprise for Mrs. Johnson and several graduation events.
Special correspondence reports Rev. Cahill and song leader Mr. Nelson of Oakland Nebr concluding a spiritual series at Adaville church. Attendance drew church members and visitors from Union Plymouth Brunsville Merrill Stanton Le Mars Akron and Preston. Post-meeting plans mention a County Sunday School Picnic. Everett Orr home sold to Elmer and Nelson Brown with Bryant Dreesten renting.
Union Creek News reports confirmation services at Union Creek church on Sunday at 10 oclock with no Sunday school. Ladies Aid meets Thursday afternoon June 20 at Mrs. Milton Ericson's home. Junior Mission Band meets Friday at Luther Hall. Luther League to sponsor a tie and sock social Tuesday evening June 25 at Luther Hall. lunch served. Several local residents are mentioned visiting and returning from trips including Madison South Carolina and Ida Grove Iowa. Irene Carr and Walfrid Forslund announce their marriage with best wishes from friends.
Special Correspondence notes Sioux City visitors Walter and Esther Bernhardt and family, and Bill Fry relatives attended Esther Band’s funeral in Wessington Springs. Jesse Cross and family traveled from Curlew Indiana for a weekend visit. Keith and Eileen joined their parents for the trip. Esther Easton funeral in Wessington Springs drew Alfred Fry and Elsa. Joe Wilson completed ninth grade and plans summer on the farm. Mrs Annis Cramer traveled to Sioux City.
Local reports from Adaville Akron and surrounding areas detail visits among families including Mr and Mrs Cassen Mrs Milner and Mrs Hathaway. Graduates at Central high school Beulah Speere received A grades. Widespread community meetings praised with Rev Cahill and singer Mr Nelson. Weather warms after a cold spell with no frost damage.
Mr and Mrs Fred Lueken and son Arlen Lee visited Barth Miller home Sunday evening. Eldon Kallsen of near Craig dined with John Tapper. Elaine and Muriel Stumpend from Sioux City weekended at Anna Klemme. Darlene Miller and Dorothy Tapper stay at Barth Miller home for two weeks Bible school at Plymouth church. LeMars shoppers Tuesday afternoon included John Tapper family Ben Tapper Barth Miller Leonard Miller John Kallsen and Harry Johnson families. Clare Morehead and sons Norman and Virgil also present.
Albert Bockelman was on the sick list over the weekend and remains ill. Visitors include John McInnis and family from near Akron, and Charlie Larson and wife from Sioux City. Lillian Charlotte and Minard Larson visit grandparents near Hudson this week. Mrs. Orin Harris and children plus Carol and Erma Johnson visited Alton at the Dr. Larson home Thursday. Charlie Patrick and son came from Carpenter, South Carolina. Lawrence Keehn spends time at his father's near Hawarden. Harry Dalgliesh and daughter Madonna from Sioux City are here during his vacation. Don Schumacher and John Schumacher, both of Sioux City, visited last week. Mrs. Becker and children from Sioux City moved here to join her husband working in the barber shop. they live in the house.
Amanda Hendricks visits daughter Mrs. Geo Crow. Louis Brabender visits father in LeMars. Dorothy Henneman of Hudson visits George Wakeman. Orin Harris has three loads of cattle and one load of hogs in Monday’s Sioux City market.

Sunday evening callers visited the Gert Jacobs home as the Preston 4-H club met with Miss Doris Pierson on Tuesday evening. The Friendship club gathered with Miss Lois Gabel at her home Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs John Hillrichs and daughter visited Wm Barinsky Sunday afternoon. Esther Frerichs assists Mrs Anna Barker. Mr and Mrs Fred Kremme were LeMars callers Monday.
The board of supervisors approved a contract Monday for grading and culverts on five miles of secondary road in Perry township. The project runs north and west from Primary 29 and is planned to extend into Liberty township to connect with the county.
The county awards contracts for road work with mid county grading and bridge tasks. Harry Noel of Peterson secured the bridges and culverts contract for 5150 dollars while Clark Construction Company handles the grading for 1503 dollars.
