The Register-Tribune published by Ray A. Smith lists rates for one year two dollars, six months one dollar, and three months sixty cents. It notes publication every Thursday in Akron Town and entry at the local post office as second class mail matter dated September 26, 1901.
Special correspondence reports family and friends visiting in Garland. Mr. Eddie Lewison and family called on Albert Wagner, who remains ill. Numerous dinners hosted by local households included Hamiltons, Skinners, Beelers, Larson, and Busch families. Social gathering at the Lewison home celebrated Mrs. Lewison’s birthday with a late midnight lunch.
W A Evans and sister Madge Evans went to Sioux City Wednesday. Madge stayed for a visit while Will returned. Dolly Johnson of Sioux City visits relatives this week. Chris Scheffen and wife visited in Sioux City. George Wakeman children attended a family picnic at the Glen Wakeman home with about thirty present. Attendees included G A Johnson and family, Lester Wakeman and family, L J Crate?nd wife, Gilbert Glen and Millard Wakeman families, E L Larkin and brother of Mrs Wakeman, James Adams and family, Frank Wakeman and daughter Mildred of Akron. Keith Johnson of Montrose is visiting grandparents at the Geo Wakeman home. Mrs M Or Larson of Alton visited Wednesday. Hugo Ludwig and wife and Lawrence Patrick and mother visited Sioux City Tuesday. Carol and Irma Johnson entertained a few girl friends Wednesday afternoon.
A social roundup notes Leona Frerichs birthday celebration with relatives and friends on Friday evening. Residents and visitors include Fred Klemme Alfred Klemme and Rev. Samuelson returning from a Spirit Lake fishing trip. Local visits and gatherings are listed across the Preston area.
Hot weather aided hay making as first alfalfa is being stored. Logan and Cassen families from Sioux City brought a celebratory supper for Jack Cassen's birthday. Marjorie Knapp returned from a visit to Sioux City with relatives. Fred Waddle of Webster, SD is visiting and taking a vacation due to health. Cyrus A Knapp, Marjorie, and Fred Went to Sioux City. Marjorie stayed longer with the Strong cousins while Wesley Trometer remains in Milnerville.

Westfield residents report a lively slate of social visits and family news. Harry Emmet and spouse celebrated, while Betty Pendleton and Earl Pendleton birthdays drew relatives. Geo Tucker injured after a fall, goiter operation for Mrs. Dewey, and 4 H convention attendance in Ames. A June 25 joint picnic near Akron with Portland is announced and former LeMars Achievement Day participants are urged to attend.

On Friday night the society meets at the church to reorganize under a five committee plan plan the year’s work and adopt a budget. Rev Johnson will attend and Delores Waterman leads Sunday’s 7 o clock meeting with the topic Vow to Conquer Anger.
Rev. Vere Abbye led a state convention talk on C. E. for Such an Hour as This. He warned that youths seeking entertainment form raw emotions but fail to act, risking gospel hardness. Ninth district officers were elected for Cherokee Monona Woodbury and Plymouth counties: President Wilson Daven of Cherokee, VP Mildred Lemen of Akron, Secretary Maxine Williams of Sioux City, Treasurer Robert Stevenson of Bronson. Clarence Schulz, 34, dies after hay wagon accident in Stanton township. Funeral held at Lincoln township Lutheran church.
